Program to draw schematic
08 Jul 2010 12:12
Hi,
Does anyone know which program to use to redraw a bike schematic, especially one that can easily do the wire colors.
I have tried some but they were all a real pain to use.

I just use MSpaint, but it is a pain to learn. I've been using for years, so it's faster for me than others I've tried, and it's already on any Windows machine I come across.

I use Canvas 11 which is available for both Mac and PC. If you are using Visio, you might as well just eat razor blades. Canvas is so powerful, it can literally do anything. You do have to learn how to use it, but it's easier to learn than Visio and much easier to use. Some of the older Mac programs like McDraw Pro were really the optimum blend of ease of use and ability. But, you need an old Mac to run them.

Thanks, Yes I use MSpaint and have tried Visio. They both do the job but painful to use.
I will have a look at Canvas 11. Thanks!

Canvas 11 looks promising, but require some learning from my side.
I need to figure out how to customise the wire colours for a start.
I wish I has a sample of one done so that I knwow what can be done with it. I will search around a bit
Thanks again.

I remember there was a 30 day free trial run of canvas back before I bought it a couple of years ago. Might find one on the web.Canvas 11 looks promising, but require some learning from my side.

The Gimp, free and a competitor to PhotoShop, works on Windows, Linux, Mac, and FreeBSD.
There are a couple of programs for Linux that will create schematics, free of course, just don't remember the names right now.
