No power to headlight or tail light
03 Jul 2010 17:37
Got her running and now trying to trace the head/tail electric. There is no power to 2 of the 3 fuses with the key in run position.
Any help appreciated.
PS Krylon clear is NOT gasoline proof. Ruined about 10 hours of meticulous work

Check the many and various electrical connectors. It's not uncommon to see power on one side of a connector and not the other.
Corrosion and/or damaged wiring can be a real problem to trace down.
The headlight housing has a large number of connectors inside. Plan on spending some time cleaning the connectors/doing wire repair.
Use two ways of inspecting the glass tubed fuses;
1.Remove the fuse from the clips, looking for tightness of the end caps.
2.Using either a self powered test light of a multimeter,continuity check the fuse element.
If a bad fuse(s) is found, AGX is the type of fuse usually in 10 or 20 amp ratings.
Clean the fuse clips with either a Dremel tool with a small wire brush or a cotton swab and metal polish(I use Brasso on mine).
