starter noise was created by 1981jmotor
Hello guys,
All of a sudden, my starter has started making a whining noise. If it had always done it, it may not be as noticable, but this is a new noise- it is hard to describe it exactly, except to say that it is something rubbing on the starter shaft of possible the one way clutch.
The sound seems to be coming more from the starter, rather than the side cover over the one-way clutch.
I know this is a vague description, but has anyone got any ideas? Thanks,David

I would think it's more likely the starter clutch, but it could be the starter. Inside the starter it does have a set of reduction gears that could whine if they were messed up. Could also be a bearing in the starter.
