Cutting spark plug wires was created by kz750saskatoon
I think I need to trim the spark plug wire. When I try to screw the boot into the wire it does not feel like it grabs anything. To clarify, I am not talking about the end that connects to the coil. When I look at the end of the wire without the boot on it seems like the hole inside is empty. I am not sure if the wires were destroyed or just screwed/unscrewed too often.

Can I just use some cutters to trim the cable by half an inch or so to get a better contact between the screw in the boot and the conductors in the wire?

I can submit pictures later today to show what I am talking about if this was not clear enough.

Yes you can trim them so you have some material to screw the plug caps to. If they have been screwed off and screwed on to many times it is time for a trimmin
