Stator Wiring Question was created by madmatt1
I just bought what they call an "alternator repair harness"
for my '77 KZ1000. The usual suspect, the rubber plug in the stator cover, was leaking, and this seemed like a good way to fix it. I soldered the new harness to the wires coming off of the stator, but my ability to cover the solder connections with heat shrink tubing was so-so. there wasn't really much room to work with. The solders are well covered, but I don't think that the shrink tubing is really liquid-tight. I'm assuming this isn't a big deal since the whole stator gets splashed with oil, but I just want to see what others think before I say "good enough".

The stator usually has an epoxy coating covering enameled copper wire.Your bike has a low pressure oiling system(2.0-2.8 PSI) So I would not be concerned with oil contamination as much as good, clean, solder joints.
