Never noticed this on my previous Z1's. Last owner had this taped to the frame.Bike is a 74 z1900 stock point plate but as you can seee in photo aftermarket coils.
What is it what does it do

The only 3 pronged plugin like that I've ever seen on older Kawaski's was for the turn signals. It looks like it's into the stock plug. Perhaps off a different model.

eeerrr ya what those guys said... good thing I always toss those and their wires from my harness..

Brake light warning unit. It lets you know when the brake light is burned out by flashing the stop lamp in the gauge cluster.

Be aware, that diagram is drawn wrong. The yellow wire from the brake light failure relay should go to the blue wire on the brake switch, not the brown.

It mounts behind the tank. On my bike when i flip the seat up look to the back of the tank and then look down . There will be a mount hole on a flat piece of steel
