Pulsing halogen Headlight Shorten Life?

There are a lot of them available and probably for less $ than it would cost to build it, but I am an out of work design engineer with too much time to kill so I am trying to find a simpler way to do it. Also, doing it in a way that violates the DOT specs is a plus for me.:laugh:

They spec that the pulser must be in the positive lead, not ground lead.

A little off the subject but still along the same lines; On a CF13JL-2 Flasher unit, that is commonly available and good to 20A, Which resistor would have to be changed to vary the flash rate. Since this is good to about 240W it could be modifiable, it it can be made to flash at between 3.3-4.7Hz. I took one apart and would at least like to try.

I found this link that shows how to do it on a little different stile flasher and am attempting to do it to the CF13. He removed the 100K R1 and replaced it with a variable 500K.
