Hard start: advance problem? was created by KitNYC
So, I notice the KZ400 has been hard to start cold lately, & I think maybe it started when I did the timing... (She starts fine when warm.)
When I did the timing, I had to turn the plate all the way counter-clockwise. That made me a little suspicious, as I remember having to do the same with the KZ440. I'm just wondering if it's possible for my ($12 Harbor Freight) timing light to be off.
Thanks,
-Kit

Too much advance will cause hard starting. Try backing off one degree and see what happens.

Thanks, Roland. I think I'll just back it off a hair & ignore it for now.
