what do i need? was created by mooney
I recently came across a 78 kz440B that has all the mechanical parts needed to run, what I dont have is any of the wiring or electrical components. It is electric start only and i would like to see if it runs before i spend any real money on it. what are the bare bone essential components to get this motor running?

Points or electronic ignition? Either way, you'll need an ignition coil, sparkplug wires or high tension leads, and sparkplugs.

And also:

Wire from either coil primary terminal to points.

Wire from other coil primary terminal to battery positive terminal.
Caution -- Leave connected ONLY while actually attempting to start the engine and while engine is running. It's like leaving ignition switch in ON position.

Ground cable from battery negative terminal attached to bolt on engine (generally on rear of engine).

Good Fortune! :)
