Andrews coils was created by wagonmaster69
I have a set of Andrews coils they are blue with a part number 6262A.
I need to know if they are ok to put on my 82 KZ1100 Spectre
And what plug wire is what?
on the flat side I have the two power wires conections and on the curve side is ware the plug wires go into it.
now starting from the power wire side will it go #1-#4 or #4-#1 and for the other #2-#3 or #3-#2.
And on the wire side the conection closes to the plug wire side is it positive or negative.
hope somebody is fimilare with andrews coils.

Coil ohm resistance must match ignition requirement of the ignition. For instance, the stock igniter style ignition likely requires a coil will less ohms than does a Dyna-S replacement ignition which no longer uses the igniter.

As far as wiring connections to the coil, am doubting any different than Dyna coil or any other dual output coil in this application.

As to each individual ignition coil, the two spark plug wires are interchangeable within the coil (virtually impossible to screw up).

Also primary terminal wires are interchangeable within the coil (again virtually impossible to screw up).

Just be sure one of the two coils (likely the left hand coil on shifter side of bike with KZ1100) has plug wires connected to outside plugs #1 and #4.
And that the other coil (likely the right hand coil on brake lever side of bike with KZ1100) has plug wires connected to inside plugs #2 and #3.

Good Fortune! :)

The ignition system you have is a 2.2 Ohm system on that bike. The Andrews blue coils are 3.1 Ohm. They will work on that bike but will provide only about 2/3 output voltage. The coils you require for that ignition are Dyna gray 2.2 Ohm coils to get the full spark. If you have any power loss to the coils due to age or corrosion, you might have a week spark.

I have a set of new plugs and wires.
And its a pain in the a$$ to put the plug wires in the origanal coils.
thats why I was hoping I could use the andrews coils.

The 3.1 ohm Andrews blue coils ought to work with the stock electronic ignition.

If the stock electronic ignition has been replaced with a Dyna-S ignition, for example, the 3.1 ohm Andrews blue coils ought to work just fine.

Bottom Line -- use the 3.1 ohm Andrews blue coils. :cheer:
