Yes the gap can be a C##t hare larger but not a red one that is too thin a blond one is a bit thicker but a non domestic black one is the thickest and I would go with that.
.045 -.060 is very good. I think for most people .045-.050 is the way. But different plugs will react differently. This is the advice for the ND/ACCEL or Beru/Nology plugs

Thanks otakar. But I'm still running my stock coils. They still work. I do have soem of the green coils I bought cheap from some dude, but I haven't gotten around to changing them.

Anyway, I have a trip coming up and was thinking about upgrading to better plugs, but for this trip, since I have plenty of other crap to do, I'm gonna wait til I get back to deal with the coils.
Guess for now I'll just stick in another set of NGK's. About a buck fidy at the Farm and Home.
Kind of annoyed myself yesterday. For the last week I've been cleaning up the engine with the power washer and what not. Had the tank off and forgot to plug the fuel lines. So when number one cylinder went dead yesterday while test riding myu new Kerker, I thought sure it was a carb problem. Dropped number one float bowl to see what it could be. Nothin wrong there. So finally I switched number one and number four plugs. Yep, dead plug.
DAH!!!

It will take you less than 1/2 hour to change the coils and remove the ballast resistor. You are wasting a lot of energy with that resistor in the circuit. You can run those plugs just like you would run the NGK B8ES but you will run the stock gap on them with the stock coils. Once you change the coils than you can open the gap to what ever you desire or leave it stock. Those plugs are a direct replacement for the NGKs

OK, what plug wires and boots do you recommend?
Solid core I'm sure but which ones?
And do I splice the ballast resistor wires together?

Yes once you unplug the resistor you will plug the two wires together because the resistor is in series with the coils. I make my own plug wires but you can buy virtually anything from Z1E in solid core.

Or if you want to come over we can make a set of wires. I have blue solid core wire. I have the crimpers for the end caps

I have the suppression wires on mine, I found them easier to get to work properly.

Yes you can. Today the Iridium plugs are the rage for everyone but I don't Like them not even the Denso. I bought a massive quantity of the W24ESU when they were discontinued and I have them if you want some. Otherwise you can use the Accel plugs. You can call me.

You Kenediens up there have to run those. Down here most of us don't even know what those are unless we ride a Touring bikes with a CB and a stereo. And even than we usually only run resistor caps. :P

Otto you should take your number down, some bots will pick it up quick and you'll get inundated with African princes who want to share their fortunes with you.
