thanks fella's that helped alot. I got the ignition installed last night and installed new coils aswell. I waited until thismorning to fire her up due to not finishing until late. And I have a problem, plugs 1-4 are firing good, but 2-3 are not. I'm not to good with omhmeters and I'm trying to find the bad connection to the 2-3 coil. I also may need to redo the timing ( would this cause 2-3 not to spark?

Follow the static procedure using a +12Vdc light or DVM.

You sure you have +12Vdc, ground and EI module signal terminations to coil 2/3 correctly?

That blue Insulation Displacement type connector used to tap into the +12 Vdc (+Batt) source is prone to failure. Don't ask. Other members have reported the same failure in the past.

You would be well advised to make a more reliable connection including just splicing, soldering and shrink tubing. This method is utterly reliable.

I wanted to be able to disconnect it if required so I went the connector route: See the 1 into 2 splitter on the Red line. Your colour code may be different since I have the Coil Repowering mod.:

Best of success, :)
Bill

yeah bill that helps also. but I really need help with my timing, i hooked up my test light to my blck wire and it lit with the crank mark and the "T" mark alignied, assuming "T" meant timing i moved on to test 2-3 on the green wire, when the light lit up the crank mark was aligned with the two dashes to the right of the "F" mark on the 1-4 side... what the hell did I do wrong?

OK.

T = TopDeadCentre F = Fire (or idle timing), The 1-4 mark (farthest right) = Full advance.

Static timing should be done at full advance, IMHO.

Red power wire from dyna s to switched +batt power.
Black and green wires to corresponding coils.

The plate screws should be just snug, so that you can adjust the timing for 1-4.

The rotor should spin freely to full advance, then spring back completely to seat counter-clockwise.

Turn the crank until the advance mark on the 1-4 side is precisely lined up with the case mark.

Volt meter/light on black wire 1-4, spin the rotor to full advance and hold. Now rotate the dyna s plate either way until the light stays on. You can release the rotor, and tighten down the dyna s plate bolts.

Now move volt meter/light to green wire 2-3. Turn crank until advance mark lines up with case mark on 2-3 side.
Turn the rotor to full advance and hold.
Loosen screws and adjust the pickup itself (right side 2-3) until the light stays on.
Release rotor, tighten pickup back down.

Done.

Static timing is fine to get going, dynamic timing with a good light will yield best results...

Let us know...

PS. Great pics everyone else!
