My 87 P6 has a Shindengen SH 532-12 5.7 6 wire R/R. Will a SH 530-12 2.7 6 wire R/R be a sutible substitute?

I believe it came from either a 550 or 650 KZ

All of my 550 reg/recs are SH 230-12 but the last digits are all different.

Are you sure yours are 530-12 and not 230-12?

The 1987 KZp uses a permanent-magnet, 3-phase alternator like some of the 550's and 650's. But the question is if the police model has a more powerful alternator. I don't have any info on that.

Both of your reg/recs have 3 yellow wires, a brown, a black (or black/yellow), and a white/red (or just white or just red), correct?

If so, then it's probably the right type, but it's just a question of power.

My Original was pretty well burned up, but the wiring seems to match Three yellow, Brown, Black and Red/White. After talking with a local who used to work in a Police supply shop, the police model has a high output alternator. Thanks for all the input, it made me think of other questions I should have asked.
