Mine's dead. Otherwise great bike is useless.
Anyone know of a substitute or suitable replacement from another model?
One to sell?
Got a mean itch to ride....

Dyna-s or Dyna-3 are the best bet. I'm a stock guy, but the ignitor is horribly expensive if you can get it and dyna works just fine.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

If your ignition pickup coils are good, and the bike has a mechanical ignition advancer, build you a replacement like this:http://home.comcast.net/~loudgpz/GPZweb/Ignition/GPZgmHEImod.html
1982 GPZ1100 B2
General Dynamics/Convair 1983-1993
GLCM BGM-109 Tomahawk, AGM-129A Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM)

The link to my site seems to only work if it's inside the url tags.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

The idiot I bought this bike from didn't put the overflow tube on the battery and acid got all over a bunch of stuff.
The bike started to miss as you would ride it and that got progressively worse. Now I get no spark and everything else checks out o.k.

I'm leary of buying used electrical parts normally so I was hoping to see what it took to make the part I need.

The module was installed in 8/05. The module currently (as of 8/07) has several thousand miles on it. If any reliability issues come up, I will update this page.
Lou, any updates? Thanks.

Still working great... I have the HEI modules on two bikes now and both seem to be working flawlessly so far.

We used to use the GM modules on our Mopar V-8's (sort of as a cheap alternative to the MSD stuff). They work great and theoretically provide a hotter spark as well. I like this idea and will do it to my 750 even though it doesn't need it!
