Can you put other battery sizes in a 1980 KZ750E 4 cyl.? Standard size is 12A-A but I can't always find this size.I know you can get the size and cross match but has anyone tried this?

Aside from the power required, the designation A-A pertains to size as well. The problem is the battery box, which is sized for that battery. You could probably junk the stock box and build something bigger (sitting below the frame rails), or try a smaller battery (which might be too weak for your setup). 12A-A's are extreemly common. Everyone from Napa to Auto Zone has them.

Strange. The 12-A-A is one of the only batteries I always find at automotive parts stores and even department stores. I'm glad Kawasaki chose to use one of the most common motorcycle batteries ever designed.

You are right you can find the battery at just about any auto store. What you can't find is a maintenance free battery that is the correct size. I have recently found a maintenance free battery at Battery World that would fit for $45.00 but would have to order it.
