Often a small piece of foam rubber wedged underneath the nut will hold the nut in position to readily get the screw started threading into the nut.

Good Luck! :)

The little wound ball of chintzy thin clear tube that insists on staying coiled --- may be gently stretched while being slowly pulled in front of a heat gun, which helps straighten it. At least the parts that don't melt.

shove one of those short skinny straight screwdrivers like ya use for thermostat screws wedged beside or under nut to hold it.i buy motorcycle batterys same place i buy my $30-40 800-1000cca truck/van batteries in omaha.i started my old 4x4 today for 1st time in probably 3 months today as that blizzard came blowing through started right up after i pumped the hell out of it!that battery has been in that bomb for 4 years now without an issue, ill check their mc battery prices tomorrow. B) heres the place im talking about, standard battery in omaha.they tend to be atleast $20-30 cheaper on bigger batterys, they show a listing for your battery but but no price ill check tomorrow B)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

Offer this, the nipple used for sealing conventional battery vent when installed under batt. nut will end future loss/difficulty starting bolt. If you purchace from a dealership/facility which services batt for you, ask for spares. (especially handy if installing battery tender/acc.leads to batt.)g

I have used the PartsUnlimied brand sealed battery - comes empty with an acid pack - real easy to add the acid to the battery "reasonably" safe. Once acid is in - cap it with the permanent cop provided and charge. Usually the dealer will charge it, but if buying mail order... you get a fresh battery with minimal effort.

Price for my KZ1000 was about $50, but no worries of acid dripping from vent tube.

Battery Plus Extreme 12V/18AH GEL battery....
Backed by a full 24 month warranty!!!

Figured in my mod, due to higher compressions, old wiring conductors and electrical components and Arizona heat etc... wanted the extra starting/running power.

Then throw in the fact lead acid batteries just don't last here in Az and the white electrolytic crap all over the place... no thanks.

In my case, had to fab a new battery cage anyways where everything was being tucked in behind the side covers so fitting wasn't an issue regarding battery dimensions.

Yes, you'll spend a little extra but.... The battery has more power, last longer so in the long run, maintenance free, better warranty, no white crap/corrosion/drain tube, pretty much a wash regarding the pricing...;)

Just my worthless 2 cents...

I have used cigarette butts for the last 20 years to wedge the nut for the short screw. I leave them there for the life of the battery. :) :)
