Hi all

I'm restoring a kz650b

I have a kz650f sitting for spares

how easy would be to take the ignition parts from the F and replace the points system from the B?

i mean, which parts should i replace?

thanks

You need the coils, the timing plate with pickups, the advancer rotor, and the igniter.

This is assuming the f uses mechanical advance. If the f uses electronic advance, I'm not positive the pickup plate will fit in the motor, possibly with a little modification.

In the USA the F still used points.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Here's a post showing how I converted a kz1000 electronic igniton to fit an early kz650; kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...iew&catid=4&id=12453
I have since switched to an '80s kz650 eletronic pickup plate.
