I need an IC Igniter for a 1980 kz750E , from what years and model bikes can i use that will work for my bike?

just replace your old unit with a dyna s self contained goodness no extra stuff needed.

The cross-reference at Kawasaki.com shows that a number of bikes have the same Igniter (# 21119-1040). The part also has a superceded part number, other ones may work as well.

New ignitors are really really expensive and used ones are usually unreliable. You could go with a Dyna system like timebomb33 suggested or if you are handy you could make one like this

Buying used electrical parts is a crap shoot.
I bought a new freezer fan that went kaput after about a month. cheap chinese crap.

That is strange, the 1980 KZ550A1 uses points. Maybe some of them actually had electronic ignition?

Also, that list is missing the KZ550H1 and H2. They use the same igniter as the other 550's listed.
