oh my god what is wrong with the world, greg agreeing with me. and by the way a blown fuse will cause the power to shut down if it is the right fuse.

I've had the same thing happen to me twice. Once was due to a blown fuse. (which will indeed cut the engine immediately). I was only able to discover with a multimeter, because the fuse blew inside the metal cap, not visible through the glass.

I was halfway through a 500-mile ride, a long way from home. Fortunately, I packed a multimeter and extra fuses.

The second time was due to a wire that came loose from the coil relay mod I did.

There was a complete loss of power. Nothing until I pulled over...only the head light worked. Battery cables were tight.
My old ignition switch used to do that to me until I got smart enough to figure out what it was up to......

Considering how easy it is to diagnose, I would pull the side cover, open up the fuse box and check the 20 amp fuse,, farthest to the right, with the white wire.

I have blow that fuse 2 times and the bike dies. No nothing. It is dead.

Pop in a new fuse and volia, back to life and all for 2 mins and a 1.20 fuse.
