steering lock turns on brake light

Before I get out my multi-meter and try to locate my short, has anyone ever had this happen? I was parking my 82 KZ1000-K2 somewhere unfamiliar on Friday night so I turned the ignition to steering lock and went into the house. I noticed later on when I went to take a peek out the window at the bike that my brake light was on. I went outside and found that turning the key all the way to the right caused the brake light to turn and stay on even after the key is removed.

i think that's the park light!

1 click back to just lock it anti clockwise.

all the way to the right clockwise to put park light on.

Sounds like the ing switch is making the park light mode come on. May be the switch is shorted going bad.

I think that's by design.

p.s. Whats the point of having the light come on? seems like an evil way foir my battery to accidentally drain!

parking in Europe I'd say easier to see a parked bike with its tail light on..
