the 10.2v will be plenty to hold the relay closed, most of the cheapy Bosch knock-offs will close about 6 volts or so. when i tested my 750B i had the 10v at the coil while disconnected, with further testing showing one volt at the ignition switch, and .7 volt at the kill switch, the rest i attributed to the old wiring and bullet connectors. as for the coil "causing" a 2v drop, seeing the coil is the load in the ignition circuit it better cause a 12v drop as it is consuming the voltage,
when your doing a voltage test at the coil and your voltage jumps to 12v when you disconnect it you are not conducting a voltage drop because you just opened the circuit and it would read 12v if just one tiny-weenie little wire was still connected, but under load a voltage drop test will show where your problem areas are.

Well there's still one thing you need to remember (reason why I'm not a fan of this wiring mod)...

For temp fix such as +12Vdc now on the coil, awesome...
I say temp for the reason of you haven't fixed the problem, only bypassed it... ;)

But you may still have 10.2Vdc going everywhere else. Meaning after the ignition switch, you have 10.2Vdc to all the other electrical components such as head & tail lighting light... Measure and confirm!

Also, this high resistance load is most probably not charging the battery properly or worst case scenario, draining the battery...

As Bounty mentioned, this is a significant additional load occurring... Don't be lazy here on this cause you now have +12Vdc to the coils... T-shoot where this problem is and repair or you can bet for sure, you'll end up stranded some day...

Outside of that, glad to hear you have her going....
