KZ250 LTD Wiring Issues (Diagram Request) was created by ZeldaFan101
I just got a 1979 KZ250 LTD and I fixed up the engine to get it running. The only problem is that the headlight's high beams don't turn on (when I switch to them, the light just turns off), and the right side blinkers don't work. I've checked all the connections that I know of, but this is my first bike and I'm not really that familiar with electrical systems. If anyone could help with some ideas and a wiring diagram, that would be much appreciated!

Welcome aboard. I would start by checking the bulbs to make sure they aren't faulty. When you turn on the right side blinkers do either of the light come on at all? Ed

I did some digging in the Kawasaki Recognition Manual and the KZ250 LTD was not imported into North America until 1980...in 1979, only the standard small model available was the KZ200A2. In 1980 the KZ250G LTD had mag wheels while the KZ250D1 had spoke wheels. In order to help you with a wiring diagram, we need to know which bike you might have. :)

Thanks! The book that came with it said that it was printed in 1979, so I kind of assumed. I kind of stumbled upon this bike, but it has spoke tires, so it is deffinitely the 1980 250D1. I used a multimeter to check the continuity of the bulbs and to check if the lights were receiving power. It looks like power isn't getting to the light in front. I didn't check the back light... The lights don't come on at all when I turn the switch to the right.

It seems like the 6-pin connector under the gas tank wasn't tight. After I took it apart and tested continuity for the rest of the wiring and put it back together both my right blinkers and my high beams started working again. I'll just have to keep my eye on that one... Thanks for all of your help!
