tach noise?????

hey i have a 78 kz 650 and my tach out of no where has started to make like a little growl or dawl rattle while i am around 3000 to 4600 i was wondering if it would be a good idea to take my cable off and put a little bit of lube down in it and if so any recomendations????

any buttery moly based grease works well. pull the inner cable out grease it up sparingly and reinstall it
