what would be a good combo front and back set up for hiway use. i like to do long rides not bar to bar. hi rpms at 65 to 70.

I would go about 10 - 12% below stock. In other words, if the stock rear is 42T, go with a 37T.

My 1982 KZ1000J had a 42 tooth rear on it (41 is stock). Spun way too high for me. Put a 38 tooth on the rear and am happy.

Could go up one tooth on countershaft sprocket. On the bike at hand, I believe that's from 15 tooth stock to a 16 tooth. Usually a quick and easy install, with same chain still being long enough. Don't forget to re-adjust chain slack.

Will produce a more relaxed cruising rpm, but at expense of acceleration and without change in attainable top speed or mpg.

Will experience a significant decrease in acceleration from stop or crawl speed, and losing more impromptu drag races. :pinch:
