Finding parts for my speedometer was created by toadson
Not sure if this is the right section of the forum for this, but I have a 79 KZ1000 LTD with the cable driven speedo and tach, and ever since I bought the thing there have been a few parts missing on the speedo. First off, I have no glass, so it is open to the elements which I am not too keen of. Second, I can't reset the tripodometer, because the knob you use to reset it on the bottom side of the speedo is gone. It's also very noisy when going down the highway, so the whole unit may need to be rebuilt anyway, but is there anywhere to get these type of parts? I thought someone used to restore the gauges on these bikes, but I don't know for sure. Any ideas?

T, with the exception of mounting hardware none of the pieces of either speedo or tach were offered, search for re-built/rebuilders. while not an owner, have seen pics of some i covet.G

On my speedometer I replaced the trip meter knob with a lamp turn knob & extension.
It's not too difficult to take your meter apart.
Then you could see if you could help it with a light cleaning and oiling.
A local glass shop should be able to cut you a new glass.
Good luck!

That sounds like a good way to fix it. Is there any certain type of knob I would need to get for it?

Your local hardware store should have some table lamp parts that will work.
