Converting From Seperate R/R to Single Unit? was created by TommyLeTucker22
On my 1977 KZ 750 B Twin, the regulator and rectifier are separate units. Has anyone had any experience converting this set up to the six wire (or seven wire, I can't remember) like that of a later 750 or 650. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Would love to offer some advice but i am trying to solve the same problem at the moment. Will be pretty keen to see what others have done. All the best.

Like OKC says, yours may not have a combo unit available. I would try the link he provided.

You have an excited field type alternator. That is only used on the 77 650, some 400 twins and some 750 twins. I have not seen a combo unit for those bikes.

Most KZ's use permanent magnet alternators. They can convert to combo units (if they didn't already come that way).
