'82 GPZ 550 parts interchangeability info?

I have a 1982 GPZ 550 (KZ550 - H1) that might need a new alternator or a rectifier, and I was wondering if I can get some info on the interchangeability.
I'm not quite sure on the part numbers of both, though I think the rectifier may be " 21066-1025 REGULATOR-VOLTAGE" (not sure of the difference of 21066 or 21066A).
Also how much they would cost would nice too.
Thanks a lot, much appreciated!

The following has been shamelessly copied from another thread and was authored by JR.
It all depends on year and model.
The way to find out is to go to kawasaki.com, owner info, parts diagrams etc etc. When you find the part click on the part #, in the pop up box click on the little yellow question mark and this will give a listing of where else used
For instance. I drilled down to a 1978 kz200A1 and got a list of 4 other models where the engine chain cover was also the same
kz200-A1A 1978
kz200-A2 1979
kz250-D1 1980
kz250-D2 1981
try it out and hope this helps

TexasKZ - Thanks for that valuable info! I've found exactly the info I needed and more!
Btw, just a newbie question, is the alternator called anything else, such as stator generator or? Thanks!

Hello, Will, and WELCOME to KZR!
We're glad you're here!
One of these from Z1E should work.

If not already done, may check charging system by measuring voltage across battery terminals while engine is running.
Look for 12+ volts at idle, and 14+ volts at 3000~4000 rpm.
Best to have good fully charged battery with proper fluid levels, and clean snug terminal connections, and assured good clean ground connection where negative battery cable attaches to rear of engine.
Good Luck!

10-4. The alternator consists of the stator and the rotor. The stator is bolted to the cover and the rotor is bolted to the end of the crankshaft. As the crank turns the rotor around the stator, electricity is made. I love magic. :silly:
