Regulator/Rectifier c1-c2?? was created by ohiogrown
Is there any way to make a c2 regulator work on a c1, from the parts diagram it says that the c1 is a single phase while the c2 is a three phase?

Not really. You'd have to change out the whole charging system.

Yes, there is a chance it would work, but it's not really the best solution. The 3 phase version has all of the parts of the single-phase version. You would just leave one of the yellow wires on the reg/rec un-connected.
The problem is that you can't be sure that the 3-phase reg/rec will handle the power of the single-phase alternator. This is because you are using 2/3 of the reg/rec to get the same power.
I've had friends who tried what you want to do and reported success, but I don't know how long they used it that way.
This post is only for the case of a KZ550 C1 versus C2. I am not talking about any other general bikes (definitley can't swap reg/rec on KZ650 C1 to C2).
