Headlight/turnsignal issues
22 Jul 2009 20:06
I have has my 76 kz650 for 3 years now and just now this problem just started happening. When my headlight is on and low beam, my both turn indicators are on in the "dash" dimley but noticeable. when i look at the signals in front and back nothing is on. When i signal left the right indicator flashes (left indicator solid and Left F and R signals flash like it should), and when i switch it to the right signal, the left indicator flashes. (right one is solid and Right F and R signals flash like it should)
When i turn my high beams on both indicator lights are still on but much brighter. When i signal left the left blinks (right on solid) and vise versa with the right signal and the front and rear signals blink correctly.
When the headlight is off both indicators flash like normal behavior.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Disconnect the negative battery terminal(to prevent sparks) and open up the headlight housing. It has many connectors that may be damaged causing this unusual condition.
Pull the headlight out and check for insulation damage in your turn signal circuits.
I'd suggest opening up the turn signal switch housing too as it may have a part in this behavior.

Hi old Speed,
Don't forget MFolks suggestions. Even though you may not be experiencing problems just now. It's very likely that you have problems with connections or shorts inside the headlight nacelle.
