I mentioned using 12 gauge due to my bike having a 30 amp main fuse. I suppose 14 gauge could handle the load, but I'd rather err on a larger conductor than have "Crispy Wires".

No, I agree. I said 12 was a little overkill, but I like to go a little overkill. :) If your bike is using up to 20 amps (thus the larger 30 amp main), then you definitely need the 12ga.
