Flashers' erratic! was created by TeK9iNe
OK... another problem with my bike. I think I've had just about every prob you could possibly have. Well, I guess I should stop there, so as not to jinx myself... engine is pretty rock solid.

My flashers work fine until the bike gets into higher rpm's, the they no longer blink, and just pretty much stay on solid. As I slow down, the flashers start to blink properly again.

Stator is putting out about 45VAC on each line at 4000rpm. Battery is 1 yr old, holds at 12.37VDC at all times. At 4000rpm, it measures 13.81VDC at 4000rpm and I've never had any charging or power loss problems since I replaced the stator.

Makes me think reg/rect. But everything other than the flashers is ok. OH YEAH, replaced flasher units for signals/hazards in the winter.

? So whats up?

Cheers.

When you say flasher, safe to assume you're speaking of "flasher" as in the relay and you've installed L.E.D. technologies?

"replaced flasher units for signals/hazards"

Since your ramping higher in voltage with higher rpm's this is changing your current/load sensing of the relay...

Example: 12Vdc / 2 ohms = 6 amps...
Since resistance (load) is fixed in our bikes, you now have the following in your situation...

~ 13.81Vdc / 2 ohms = 6.9amps

Just in this easy example, you've gained almost 1 amp difference in current draws....

For my LED conversion, I used the following from AutoZone Tridon EP 35... It is designed for Use auto load sensing for LED technologies.

Maybe it will help....

He beat me to it. Sounds like your reg is working right and raising the system voltage up near 14V at higher RPM, which is changing current draw.

Assuming the flasher isn't just blown, the "no flash" syndrome is caused by inadequate current to make the flasher heat up. It can be a blown out turn signal bulb or use of LED lights. If you run LEDs, you should use a solid state flasher unit. Superbrightleds.com sells them.
