Irish Mike, just checked my wiring diagram and the White circuit only has one destination:

From: 20 Amp Main Fuse.

To: Ignition Switch main power input terminal.
Then based on the switch position it feeds the Red circuit, the Brown circuit, the Red/Blue circuit and or the 10 Amp Head Light (Blue) circuit.

Re-check your manual, it should say the same thing. If you don't have one... you really need one to save time, money and sanity.

I cooked this up last night for another post:

So two white wires... don't understand?

Best of success.
Bill

Irish Mike, I'm thinking out loud that the new Ignition Switch assembly in not Kawasaki OEM and therefore likely designed to fit more than one year and model of KZ650. If so, then perhaps one of the White wires is simply not used on our B1 model.

As a work-around this issue have you thought of doing the following:
-1 Disconnect the new switch.
-2 Move the key to OFF position.
-3 Use a multi-meter to buzz out each wire with every other wire.
-4 Record the results on a table.
-5 Move the key to the ON position and record the results on a separate table.
-6 Move the key to the PO position (last position) and record the test results on yet another table.
-7 Identify which "White" circuit, if any, was not switched (not used).
-8 If one "White" circuit was not used then you have found the circuit you don't need and you can ignore it (not connect to it).
-9 On the other hand, if both "White" circuits produce the same results then it does not matter which one you use. In this case use either or both... no problem.
-10 Finally, if the two "White" circuits produce different results... then I'm not sure what you would do at this point... well can't have all the answers you know.

Best of success. :)
Bill

PS
This is what each of your 3 result tables might look like if it is a 6-pin socket you have. If it were a 4-pin socket then, of course, each of the 3 tables would be 4 x 4 tables. I would put a check mark in the row and column where there was a connection, at a given key position, and empty where there was no connection:

.............c c c c c c
.............o o o o o o
.............l l l l l l
.............o o o o o o
.............u u u u u u
.............r r r r r r
