kill switch short? was created by Jackson123
So i decided to clean out my kill switch... well lets just say the insides have seen better days... long story short the internals were completely destroyed from age.. well i hotwired the bike in the "on" position, and it works fine... until i put the housing back together, once i do the bike blows the main 20 a fuse... is there any explaination???

Probably pinching/grounding some wiring would be my guess.

Hot wire it before the switch and it can not ground out.

On my KZ650-B1, bypassing the Engine Stop Switch would involve:
-1 Open the circuit between the Ignition Switch and the Engine Stop Switch. This is the Brown circuit on mine.
-2 Open the circuit between the Engine Stop Switch and the Ignition Coils. This is the Red/Yellow circuit on mine.
-3 Jumper/connect the Brown circuit directly to the Red/Yellow circuit.
This approach should eliminate the short circuit and by pass the Engine Stop Switch only if the short is in the section bypassed.
Be sure to check the colour scheme for your year and model!
Best of success.

To make it easier for all, please add your year, model and location to your signature... and it's considered real friendly too.
