1982 KZ 750 Twin. Anyone ever try to open a speedo to clean the inside of the glass? Is there a way to open these suckers?

I don't know if the 82 750 has the same style Nippon Densu gauges as my 76 900 but if it does Wired George has a good article on gauge cleaning in the tech stuff index on his web sight. After reading that I took my tach and speedo apart and cleaned both. Took a lot of patients but it looked great when done.

I have a junk broken Z1 speedo I thought I would practice on, so last night I went to work taking my time slowly prying the ring off. I'll condense the story and say do NOT do it.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

ron you musta stabbed your hand at least once!! its easily done if you use a coffee can to hold your speedo or tach. ive done many of them just take your time and dont stab your hands. a little novvus #2 plastic polish works great on the dial faces too. if you really wanna get brave use two teaspoons and pry off the needles using the dial screws as your lever points...be careful here...i did this pair not too long ago and sold it.can you see it was peeled? steve
