81 csr 650 front signal lights always on

Hi Gents. Question for you

I have an 81 kz csr h1 650cc. I noticed when I turn the key to on both signal lights in the front stay on. just light the headlight. I can use the signals fines. Was it normal for this bike to have these lights stay on?

They are running lights, just like on your car.

Depends on the years, most Kawasaki's of the era had dual filiment bulbs in the front for added visibility. Not sure when it was dropped.

According to the FSM wiring diagrams, the 1977 KZ1000 carried over the single filament front turn signal bulbs. And the 1978 KZ1000 has dual filament bulbs for combined front turn signal and running light.

I don't know about the 650's, whether they started out with single filament, and if so, when they changed to dual filament.

My '82 650 CSR has dual filament front amber lights - running lights are on all the time the switch is on, plus brighter flashing turn signal lights when switched left or right.
The rear amber lights are normally off, except when serving as flashing turn signal lights. I believe the '81 is the same.

If for any reason wanting to disable the running light function, may go into headlight shell and unplug the running light wire to each turn signal, leaving the other blinker wire attached.
