6 pin connector in headlight bucket? was created by BARNEYHYPHEN
1976 kz 900. I have a 6 pin plastic connector in the headlight bucket. 6 wires in one side but only 4 wires coming out the other. Not at the bike right now so can't help with wire colours until I get home BUT, anyone give me an idea as to what this connector is for and why 6 in but only 4 out?. Thanks.

The 4 wire side goes directly to your ignition switch. Not sure why they did this, probably the harness was used for different models is my guess, but am not positive.

Thanks. So, the two "spare" wires going nowhere beyond the connector is correct?

Some ignition switches have 4 wires and some have 6. My bike takes the 4 so I dont know much about the 6 wire.

The 6-wire on mine has a couple of "parallel" power lines running to the switch. I assume it was because the current was higher than the skinny harness wires could handle with only one wire.

Thanks all, I'll assume then that I'm not missing two wires that should go somewhere. Just fine as-is, with the 6 in 4 out.
