If you don't use the "R" plugs, then your dog will get pregnant, your tires will spontaneously combust, your home will get sucked into the 5th dimension, and the motor will blow up.

In real life it may cause a little noise on an AM radio.

The "R" means "resistor" :D

wphew! as long as it does not make ME pregnant... hard to explain that one to the wife. okay.... so I am assuming that it will have no effect on the electronic ignition of the GPZ? my book said to use the non R plugs for the american models and R plugs for the Japenese. my bike was made in japan.... make a difference?

Resistor plugs fire at a longer duration and help with radio interfernce. Your bike came stock with resistor caps for the plugs there for you dont need to have resistor plugs. If you do have resistor plugs and resistor caps then you will have way too much resistance and probobly wont run to its full potential.
The more resistance the less amps.
