What is this thing on my 74 Z1?

I was working on the bike today, and my friend jeff asked me a question that i couldn't answer for the life of me. It is # 24 in the diagram. What is it? What is it's function? Do i need it? Thanks guy's

74 Z1a 900 (Apart and making it better than ever)

It makes the red light on your gauges come on when a brake light stops working

1974 Z1 with a MKII And a 1105 big bore kit 10.5 to 1 comp. Andrews 2x cams ported head dyna s with green coils V&H sidewinder pipe airshifter 4in.over arm
