different coils was created by burkmanofgod
My bike is a 1981 Kawasaki KZ750H2. I found the bike after it had been sitting for several years. I have done a lot of work in fixing it up and now it starts on command with a little choke and then no choke needed within a minute or so. I have cleaned the carbs and they needed it real bad.

The bike now seems to be running lean on the 2 & 3 cylinders. But every check I do on the carbs seems ok.

My question is about the coils. The one on the right side of the frame goes to the 1 & 4 cylinders and is original equipment. The one on the left goes to the 2 & 3 cylinders and looks to have been replaced. The wires are all different and I had to splice into the spark plug wires to change them out.

right side original equipment.

left side replaced coil?

Where getting decent spark quality at plugs, the coils and associated wiring to plugs are likely okay at least for now.

If not already done, would assure correct floatbowl fuel levels especially on #2/3 (middle two) carbs, using the clear tube test. Too low level produces leaner mixture on otherwise perfect carbs.

Also, the pilot circuit may not be as clean as believed, or perhaps the pilot jet is damaged. And just maybe a richer pilot screw adjustment on #2/3 carbs might help.

Good Luck! :)
