79 KZ650 Battery Options/suggestions/preferences? was created by Ozzel94
I've got a 1979 KZ650 SR and was wondering if anyone has any advice on batteries before I purchase a new one. I'm personally a fan of maintenance free ones AGM ones but haven't come across any for this bike. Google searching has turned up a few AGM and or Gel cell batteries that cross reference with the Yuasa YB10L-A2 number... such as....
Scorpion ( www.batterystuff.com/batteries/motorcycle/sYT10L-A2.html )
or
Xtreme Volt ( www.bikebatts.com/product_info.php?products_id=26 )
I'd like to stay away from wet batteries, mostly cause I'm lazy and forget to check on them
I know Odyssey makes great (but expensive) batteries but none of them seem like they'd fit without some decent modifications to the battery box.
So any thoughts or experiences on various brands/types? Thanks

Batteries are a consumable item and the price of both seem good.. I suggest you go with the one that you feel fits your needs best. Chances are that in 3 to 5 years it will need replacing anyhow.

Maintenance free batteries for some models may be available at or ordered through AutoZone. They have a catalog with motorcycle bike battery applications for many various bike makes and different models.
My Z1 maintence free battery came from AutoZone two or three years ago, and continues performing well. Will buy another whenever this one gives up.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice, I'll try one at random and see how it works Either a AGM or gell, whatever catches my fancy. Ya know they probably all come from the same factory anyway
