Dyna 2000 timing on Z650 was created by ernst_himself
Hey,
I've just installed an dyna 2000 ignition with coils on my kawasaki z 650b ( upgraded to 750 ccm ) 1978. My only problem is what the total timing should be? Depending on with dyna manual I look in the answer is 30-40 degrees before TDC on the rotor at the crank. I'm afraid to destroy something if I get this wrong. If any of you are using the same dyna on a bike similar to mine please write you timing
Please help this confused Dane

Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

I can tell you how to do the Dyna S, but haven't ever seen a 2000. I found that I had to read the instructions carefully at least twice as some steps were out of sequence.
With a timing light the F mark on the advancer should be lined up with the line on the gold pin for both coils at idle. Over 4000 RPM or so the advance line should line up with the gold pin. As I recall the Dyna S required setting the static timing with the rotor fully advanced which was a bit tricky, but much easier with a test light.
