One reason is better visibility of the bike by other traffic if parked at night on side of road.
Good Luck!

Ok...I know why the lights come on...that's obvious...I am wondering why dont they just come on when the key is in on..Because...other than that...I have no running lights.

The bike may have what is called a "Reserve Lighting Circuit" This turns on the headlight(and maybe the running lights)after the engine starts. It also functions to provide a light to get home at night if the low beam burns out by turning on the high beam at reduced voltage.

If not already done, could likely find an oem wiring diagram by using the Filebase sub-menu under KZ Information located in the green ribbon at top of screen. Navigate to year, then model, and download diagram.

Soundls like somebody installed an aftermarket ignition switch assembly. That's what happened on mine when I had to get a new switch. It plugged into the harness but did not make the correct connections.Ok...I know why the lights come on...that's obvious...I am wondering why dont they just come on when the key is in on..Because...other than that...I have no running lights.
