a different dyna s question was created by gane
Gents, I installed a new dyna S on my '77 kz1000 A1 yesterday. Install was quick & easy, push button & purr. The only thing is, in order to achieve proper timing I had to use ALL of the base plates travel. (full advance) This doesn't concern me as I've run similar ignitions in the past and never known one to require change, and it's spot on. previous points plate was the same, but I thought points block wear was the reason. Has anyone else experianced this? Thanks G, PS I've noticed a significant decrease in idle engine noise w/ install. money well spent.G

Same here.... full travel plus ~ 3/8" boring of the plate slots to nail her spot on....

Figured it was due to my camshafts/adjustable cam sprockets requiring 105 Lobe centers and such...

Static and running charging circuit in spec so this isn;t the issue in my project.

Dave, Thanks, I considered moving the pick-ups but since they were true to each other refrained. figuring changing air gaps might be less than optimum. you've set my maind at rest.G
