I own an 83 Kawasaki KZ550A and i was wondering if they had running brake lights? If they do, is it simple to fix?

Most if not all of the bikes of that time frame had a dual filament light bulb in the front turn signals for running lights. Some guy's bought another set and put them in the rear turn signal locations and used them as either running lights or aux brake lights.

Some additional wiring was needed to power the new lights as it is not available without splicing into the tail light circuit. If I remember correctly the RED WIRE is the tail light circuit, the BLUE WIRE(sometimes with a red stripe)is the brake light circuit and the BLACK WIRE with the YELLOW stripe is the ground.

I looked at the wiring diagram and i didn't see that I couldn't find in the other posts where the KZ550A had a running tail light. I saw that the front turn signals had them but not the break light.

Depending on how you turn your ignition switch, you will have an on brake light... Then in pressing your brakes, the brake light will be brighter...

Is this what you're speaking of?

Perhaps we're over thinking the question. The tail light is that... it is also a brake light. the tail light should come on any time key is on. or ign sw is in P. it recieves power directly from ign sw. w/o fuses. stab a new bulb in. if it fails to illumn, chk for power at socket. if absent chase wires, G
