coils

I have a 1980 kz 1000b4 ltd everything stock except pod filters and v&h pipe. I was going to install new plug wires and i saw my left hand coil had 4 or 5 cracks in it. I need to replace them. I have a 1984 gpz 750 with a bad motor but the coils are good. does anyone know if these will work ok? my kz has a resistor for the coils the gpz doesnt do i need to leave this on or take it off? any help appreciated.

do you have an ohm meter .if you do compare the resistance readings between the two if they are close do the swap if not better look for the right ones or get dyna coils with the proper resistance.

the manuals say they are both 2.5 ohm coils

Then they should work if the wires are long enough to reach the plugs.

However, 25 year-old coils can get you stranded so you may want to consider new ones some time soon.

I think your choices of replacement ignition coils are going to be the stock ones from the dealer,Dyna,Accel,and maybe Andrews(if you can find them) all though MSD has a motorcycle ignition system with coils listed in their catalog.
