Front Brake Switch
08 Apr 2009 15:46
Hey guys, I've been having some problems with my front brake switch. It functions perfectly, but it won't stay snapped into its housing under the master cylinder. Any idea how I might be able to fix this (without epoxying), or where I might be able to find a replacement? I've already shot an email to Z1Enterprises to see if they can get the switch.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I usually take the one out of the clutch handle and use that to replace the brake switch. Usually have to grind the tip a bit to get it to work properly for the brake.
I then bypass the clutch switch by connecting the two wires together at the connector.

I'm not familiar with the 550 setup so I'll throw another thought your way just in case...
I used something a little different in my setup....
Master cylinder or mid way distribution block, use a banjo bolt switch....
J&P cycles or a local motorcycle shop may also carry...

Ah ha! Perfect! I'll check into that this summer. I think I managed to temporarily solve the problem by zip tying the switch wires to where the banjo bolt attaches to the master cylinder. The stiffness of the old wiring seems like it will hold the switch in place for the time being.

I like the banjo bolt idea, especially because it just looks cooler.
