KZ440 Ignition Points? Electronic? was created by sean5775
I have this 1981 KZ440 I am working on and just wondering what anyone could tell me about this ignition system. I know the pic looks rough but I want to change a few things. I guess you have to click this little blue square here to see the pic. It doesn't seem to be working properly for me.

Well it looks a little rusty. The part you are showing is the pickup and advancer mechanism for the stock kawasaki electronic ignition. The little black cube sends a signal to the igniter box which controls the ignition coil to make the spark.
What about it isn't working? With it being that rusty, I would guess the advance may no not be working. If you grab the rotor, it should rotate a few degrees and spring back on its own. If not, you have to take it apart and lube it.
Here's the photo.
