i have a 83 750 spectre. There is the red and black, and red and green wires, does it matter which terminal the wires connect to on the coil ? Also, is there a way to test the coils and wires ? Thanks.

I'd imagine with the primary wiring disconnected(noting which goes to where) the coils can be continuity checked. They will probably be in the 2.5-3.0 ohm range on either a digital or analog multimeter.

You might want to get a hair dryer and check the ohm readings after the coils are warm, this will let you know if a coil is failing due to hear stress.

The coils have no polarity but make sure the red wires go to the same teminals on the coils.

The wiring diagram for my 82 GPZ1100 B2 shows the left coil having the black and red wires and the right coil with red and green. The 750's might be wired different do have some one double check the wiring.

On my bike the sparkplugs are numbered left to right 1,2,3,& 4 with the left coil firing sparkplugs 1&4 and the right coil firing 2&3.
