zl900 no spark on 1 2 cside of coils !!!!help

my dad just bought a 86 zl900 eliminator and its no getting spark to the 1 side of the 1 and 4 coil and the 2 side of the 2 and 3 coil. and also has 12+ and ground signal from cdi box but it doesnt light the test lite very bright, i joined a zl forum and it sux bad it would even let me search the site after registering.. could some please help me out i gotta wait 3 days 4 manual.

Go to www.z1enterprises.com and check on the price of a Dyna S ignition system fot this bike. Your problem sounds like the IC Igniter is failing giving intermittant ground information to the coils. The dyna s replaces the IC Igniter with a module under the cover where the ignition advancer mounts.

I'd replace the ignition coils too as they age from heat and can fail. Dyna has replacement coils available through z1.
