What's the highest number on your tach? was created by Alabaster
I'm looking to replace my tachometer on my '79 KZ1000 LTD. Mine tops out at 11,000 rpm but all the ones I see on eBay for KZ1000's top out at 12,000 rpm. Will one of these work on mine or will I need to change the tack drive gear? Thanks in advance.

My '77 KZ1000A goes to 12,000...as long as it is a mechanical tach, it should work fine.

The 12,000 is standard on KZ650s, 900s, 1000s so if you get one it would be the correct part. I think the 11,000 was used on the KZ750 twin.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

It wouldn't surprise me if the tach that's on there now isn't the original. Thanks for the help all. Now wish me luck as I try to snipe one off eBay!
